Frequently Asked Questions (and Answers!)

What kind of church is CBBC?

Q. What kind of church is CBBC?
A. CBBC is an Independent Baptist Church that is fundamental in its doctrinal beliefs and practices.  By independent we mean that we are not affiliated with any particular denomination or fellowship. We fellowship and minister with other churches of like faith and practice. However, we are not entangled with the hierarchy and denominational fellowship machinery that inhibits ministry and growth. By Baptist we mean that we hold to the Bible teaching of believer’s baptism after a person has trusted Christ as his or her Savior.  Baptists did not choose the name; instead it was given us by other denominations to describe and differentiate us from those that practiced infant baptism.  As Fundamentalists we simply believe the Bible to be the Word of God and we adhere to the cardinal doctrines that have been handed down since the first church.  We reject modernism and liberalism in every form.

Q. Will I have to dress up to come?
A. The leadership team of CBBC will be dressed in suits for the men and dresses or skirts for the ladies.  As church leaders we believe it is very important to represent the Lord Jesus in our very best.  Just as a man would dress up to meet a dignitary, head of state, or a captain of industry, we believe we should dress in our “Sunday Best” as the old timers would say to best represent Christ.  There is no dress code for people attending our church -  whatever you wear to visit would be fine! We just want you to know we are honored to have you with us and how you dress is not an issue with us at all!

Q. How will I be treated?
A. We know that you have many choices in what church you visit, so we count it an honor to have you as our honored guest.  Therefore you will be warmly treated from the moment you exit your car.  Greeters and ushers are stationed all over the building to answer any questions you may have and to help you find rest rooms, nurseries, and classrooms.  Our goal is for you to be comfortable in our services and to treat you as we would wish to be treated.

Q. What are the services like?
A. The services at CBBC are lively and encouraging.  We have a great music team, lively choir, and great special music.  The songs are Scriptural and the music is Christ-honoring, preparing our hearts for the preaching of the Word of God.  The sermons at CBBC are Biblical, relevant, challenging, and encouraging.  Themes such as the home, problems we face, and reaching our potential for Christ will help you face the daily challenges you encounter along life’s way.

Q. Is there a nursery for my small children?
A. We have a well-equipped, clean nursery with excellent workers.  You will be issued a vibrating pager in the event there is a question or need involving your child.  Our nursery workers understand the value of giving quality care in order for you to be blessed in the service.

Q. Are there any programs for my children?
A. On Sunday morning there are grade- and gender-appropriate classes for every child in the Sunday School hour.  For the preaching hour we have a program called Junior Church, where children are taught the Bible at a level they will enjoy.  Staff members with years of experience working with children do a tremendous job in our Sunday ministry.  On Wednesday evening we have our AWANA program for the children. AWANA is an international program that is divided into lesson time, game time, and verse time. The children come to AWANA for the games and fun but leave with a love and understanding of God’s Word.

Q. What about my teenager?
A. CBBC has a very active teen ministry.  Sunday School and Wednesday nights provide weekly opportunities for them to learn God’s Word while enjoying their friends.  Weekly and monthly activities as well as teen camps, conferences, and rallies keep the teenagers busy throughout the year.
